Question: Hi, I have a 25' goose neck flatbed 8 1/2' wide and am a legal owner/operator with cargo ins. How is loading and unloading accomplished? I can make those time frames. Please review my feedback. Thanks (6/6/2008)

Response: The pipe is located at American Cast Iron Pipe Company, they would load you with a forklift or crane. Unloading would be at my jobsite in Franklin Wisconsin. We would unload you with either a front end loader with forks or an excavator. (6/7/2008)

Response: Hi, OK, and you are the receiver and will at delivery site? I see no problem getting there by noon Wed except for the time loading. Do you know whether they would be loading as soon as I get there, is it a big company and do they need notice of when I would be there? I don't imagine they would be open to talk to today? Thanks (6/7/2008)

Response: I am purchasing this pipe through my supplier, HD Supply, (A large, national plumbing supplier) here in Wisconsin. I or one of my employees will be receiving the pipe at the jobsite. Payment would be via corporate or certified check As of Friday afternoon, they told me it is ready to be picked up at any time, but they (American Cast Iron) are closed over the weekend and will open at 8am Monday. I would figure a minimum one to two hours to get loaded and tie down but not much more than that. I have the PO number from HD Supply along with the contact persons name and number at American Cast Iron. I would have to call them first thing Monday to tell them who is picking up the load.
What kind of guarantee will give me about delivery time? (mid day on Wednesday) (If they have a pulling head then I don't need the pipe until 7am Thursday, if not I need it the afternoon before so I can cut off one end of the pipe and fabricate a pulling end.) I won' know this untill first thing on Monday. (6/7/2008)

Response: Hi, my trailer is 8.5" wide so there would have to be 2 layers of pipe I guess, any problem with that? Can either strap or chain them down, do they need to be tarped? If I can get loaded by about 1030 I don't see any problem getting there by noon Wed excluding any bad weather, construction, or breakdowns. My equip is 2007/2008 trailer. I can stretch the log book as far as I can to make sure. I would plan to be there at 8AM or soon there after, not sure where they're located in Richmond. I would need a cashiers check or if someone needs to go to bank, cash would even be better, my book keeper hates checks from out of state. I'm in MD near leonardtown so not far from Richmond. I am a legal hauler with USDOT and Motor Carrier numbers and cargo insurance. Please review my feedback, speaks for itself on my word. I would have to get 1450 which includes all costs, wish I could do better but you know the price of fuel. Your thoughts? (6/7/2008)

Response: The pipe can be double stacked. Usually when we get it via a semi they have 4x4's under it and between each layer. This is ductile iron pipe, it would be pretty hard to damage this pipe. The most important thing is that the ends don't get dropped or hit anything hard. (There is a steel ring on the plain end that cannot get damaged.) Chains are OK, straps are preferred since the pipe has a protective coating on it. (undercoatting material) It does not have to be trapped. There might be a pulling head also, I will not know this until first thing on Monday. If so it is only 2 feet long and 12" in diameter. There will also be gaskets and locking rings for this pipe. (1 box or maybe lose, 2' x 2' x 2' max, less than 100 pounds total). Loading would be by either forklift or crane at the plant or staging area and unloading would be via forklift or excavator at the jobsite. We will be at the jobsite between 7am and 3:30pm every day. Bank Certified check is not a problem. (6/7/2008)

Response: OK, shall I submit the bid so we can get together by phone? I have plenty of straps and can probably dig up some 4x4 also. Thanks (6/7/2008)

Response: Yes, please do.
I would believe that American Cast Iron will have 4x4's and blocking for you at pickup but can not guarantee that untill I talk to them on Monday (6/7/2008)

Response: Hi, sorry I didn't get back with you sooner, we had a real bad lightning storm last night so had to shut down. I will submit bid now and hopefully we can talk early today so I can get ready. Thanks (6/8/2008)

Response: Sounds Good (6/8/2008)
